About Summer


Summer LaDawn Hall

 

was born in West, Akron and graduated from John R. Buchtel High School.

 

She attended the University of Cincinnati to pursue a Biology Degree but her mother became

 

very ill and she had to return home and help take care of her siblings and her daughter.

 

Summer plans to continue her education one day.

 

 

Summer started with the City of Akron in 2016 under Mayor Horrigan’s Administration, as

 

Secretary to the Mayor where she did many administrative day to day duties. 2017 she was

 

asked to facilitate the Mayor’s Citizens Institute and the Mayor’s High School Town Halls. In

 

2020, Summer became the Community Outreach Liaison for Office of Integrated Development

 

and the Public Arts Liaison. She also served on the City’s Development Team, selling City Land

 

under the Vacant Land Use Program - A Lot For A Little Program. Summer also is the Project

 

manager for the Akron Innerbelt which she connects with the community to remember the past

 

and working to prevent this from ever happening again.

 

 

Summer is and has always been passionate to serve the community in which has shaped her to

 

be the women she is today. She has been involved several community activities, such as past

 

Board member of Downtown Akron Partnership, past member of the Ohio Black Women’s

 

Leadership Caucus- Akron Chapter, past member of the Akron Urban League Young

 

Professionals, Past member of Commercial Real Estate Women- CREW Greater Akron, past

 

participate of the United Way Summit County / YMCA Akron Neighborhood Leadership Institute

 

of Summit County – class participant, past Akron School Board- candidate in 2015 and United

 

Way Summit County/ Leadership Akron Diversity on Board – Inaugural Class Participant.

 

Summer is currently serving on the Ohio and Erie Canalway Coalition- Associate Board member

 

and membership co-chair, Akron Civic Commons 2.0 Summit Lake and Lock 3- fundraising and

 

Donor and Art committee member and LeBron James Family Foundation Advisory Board.

 

Summer is also running again as a candidate for the Akron School Board.

 

 

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, loves to travel, Power-washing 

 

With their family business, HALL Clean and a newfound love with Pilates. Summer has 2

 

beautiful daughters: Leah, who is currently in her 2nd year of Law School in Chicago, and Layla

 

who is in the 4th grader, who does competitive cheerleading, soccer and golf.
